Founded by Gavin Mather in 2017, Mather and Company has grown into a practice known not only for its legal excellence, but also for its unwavering dedication to integrity, accessibility, and care. Gavin Mather, the principal lawyer and founder of Mather and Company, was born and raised in the Comox Valley. After completing his law degree at the University of Victoria in 2012, Gavin began his legal career in Victoria, where he worked for several years at Quadra Legal Centre. There, he focused primarily on family law and child protection, gaining valuable courtroom experience and honing his ability to handle complex, emotionally sensitive matters.

In 2017, Gavin returned home to Comox and established Mather and Company with a vision of providing responsive, people-first legal support to his local community. Today, Gavin’s practice spans a wide range of legal areas including family law, wills and estates, real estate law, and mediation.

He is a Law Society-accredited family law mediator and a certified Family Law Dispute Resolution Professional, offering clients an alternative path to resolving disputes that prioritizes dignity, cooperation, and long-term peace of mind.

Whether working as a lawyer or mediator, Gavin is known for his thoughtful, practical approach, and his ability to de-escalate tense situations while still advocating firmly for his clients’ interests.
